Wow - what a week! In the last few days the building seems to have grown massively. We now have scaffolding and a floor! Take a look...

Steve's made right a right mess on the gable wall though where he's had to make way for the new floor joists! (that's a joke, Steve!). The bigger of the holes is where Steve broke right through to the bedroom to get the correct floor level. Nice ventilation!

And finally, I thought it worth showing the first stone lintel that's now gone up this week. It's a beautiful bit of stonework again - all hand dressed by Steve and George..

Hello! A few interesting things to update on.. On Friday last week, Ali and I went to the Joiner's workshop to see the windows and doors we are having made. We're really pleases with how they've come out which is a great indication for their next project - the glazed gable. Here are the doors and windows in the workshop..

Also over the weekend, I cleared more earth around the boulder so that Steve can get the final height for the retaining wall - exhausting work! I still have a lot more of the top of the boulder to uncover but you can easily see it here at the front of the photo..

And finally, here's a detail of where the new retaining wall meets the boulder. Steve is doing a lovely job with this and it will look great when finished. It will be a an excellent bouldering wall too!

Great progress over the last week - the walls to the extension are getting higher and Steve's been doing more work on the retaining wall. Even the weather's been OK! Here's the updated view at the front...

Inside you can get an even better view of what the "boulder view" will look like now the walls are higher. And this week I removed all the plants and some of the wall from the top of the boulder so we can start to work out how the bridge will work from the bedroom onto it. We are looking forward to this particular feature being finished. :-)

Well, things are certainly on the up now and hopefully the better weather will hold up so Steve can motor on during August. Anyway, this is what it's looking like as of the end of today. As you can see we have proper stonework and a window and a door...

And from the back garden you can see how much it's taking shape...

And finally, here's some of the lovely stone detailing that Steve's doing for us - this is the window sill at the front and also shows all the dressing Steve and George have done which makes such a difference to the overall look.
